He wrote a considerable amount of books, and this feels like 19th century beach read. Trys to merge a weak story about an english hero into historical "facts" about the story of Cortez. Some of the kids really liked it, and most did not. Said it was too long and too descriptive (boring). The main characters are invented but the people like Cortes and Montezuma are in it. The story takes place in Mexico city and the surrounding valley area.
